“Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.”
—His Holiness The Dalai Lama
The Humane Education Connection’s “Canines Helping Kids in Crisis” program uses fun, interactive educational activities and curriculum for children, that builds character, promotes the humane treatment of animals and helps to create a safer, more compassionate community for its human and non-human inhabitants.
With the assistance of rescued dogs, that have earned their K-9 good citizen certification, we teach compassion, kindness and character education to break the repeated cycles of abuse and replace it with a POSITIVE attitude, renewed self-esteem, confidence, a sense of responsibility and respect for all life.
All of our dogs have experienced neglect and/or abuse. Their stories are living examples that give hope and courage to the children that they too can find their happy ending. The dog’s stories also demonstrate the ability to forgive and return nonviolent reactions.
